Celtics Edge Raptors in Preseason Finale with Last-Second Shot

BOSTON — The Boston Celtics finished the preseason with a narrow 110-108 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025, at TD Garden. Xavier Tillman hit the game-winning shot with just 0.8 seconds left to secure the win.
Despite a strong start by the Celtics, the game was tightly contested throughout. Derrick White led Boston with 33 points, nine rebounds, and six assists, while Payton Pritchard recorded ten points and ten assists.
The Celtics initially jumped ahead by double digits but faced a tough challenge from the Raptors. Brandon Ingram and Toronto’s starters provided stiff competition, marking a significant test for Boston’s regular lineup.
“It was some real competition tonight,” Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla said. “We got a good look at what we need to focus on heading into the regular season.”
Boston’s Jayson Tatum remained sidelined with an Achilles injury, while Jaylen Brown left the game due to hamstring tightness after just seven minutes of play. His condition will be monitored ahead of the regular season.
Tillman emerged as a key player, showcasing hustle and scoring vital points at critical moments. He highlighted the importance of chemistry building as the team approaches opening night.
“We need to gel as a unit,” Tillman said. “Every game counts towards that, even in preseason.”
The Celtics are scheduled to host the Philadelphia 76ers for their season opener on Oct. 22. Fans are optimistic about the potential of the team, especially after a competitive finish to the preseason.
