Treylon Burks Joins Commanders’ Practice Squad Amid WR Injuries
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Washington Commanders have signed former first-round wide receiver Treylon Burks to their practice squad, as reported by NFL Network‘s Ian Rapoport. Burks, who was selected 18th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, previously played for the Tennessee Titans for three seasons.
Throughout his time with the Titans, Burks appeared in 27 games, where he caught 53 passes totaling 699 yards and one touchdown. His career, however, has been marred by injuries, including a torn ACL and a broken collarbone.
The decision to add Burks comes as the Commanders face significant injuries in their wide receiver group, including Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel. With these injuries impacting the team’s performance, Burks may be quickly elevated to the active roster once he gets acclimated to the team’s system.
Rapoport noted that Burks had previously visited both the Commanders and the Denver Broncos. His potential signing is seen as a low-risk, high-reward opportunity for the Commanders, who are looking to address their depth issues at wide receiver.
Although there is skepticism about how soon Burks can make an impact, he is regarded as an intriguing option for a team struggling with severe depth issues at the position. The Commanders had previously hosted Burks earlier in the week, indicating their interest in bolstering their receiving corps amid a challenging season.
