BOULDER, Colo. — The Colorado Buffaloes are taking a much-needed bye week after their recent upset win over Iowa State. The Buffaloes, now 3-4 with a 1-3 record in the Big 12, secured a thrilling 24-17 victory last week.

Quarterback Kaidon Salter played a crucial role in the win, throwing for 255 yards and adding 57 rushing yards. The Buffaloes’ defense was instrumental as well, with a key interception in the fourth quarter that halted a potential scoring drive by the Cyclones.

Following seven consecutive games, Coach Deion Sanders‘ team will use this week to recover. They have been dealing with injuries, and the bye week will provide essential time for key players to heal before their upcoming match against No. 22 Utah on October 25.

The Buffaloes’ schedule includes a tough contest against Utah, who is expected to be well-prepared following their own rivalry game against BYU. ESPN’s Football Power Index currently gives Colorado a 16.1% chance to win against Utah.

This bye week comes at a critical moment for the Buffaloes. They need to improve their run defense, which is currently allowing an average of 188 yards per game, the second-highest in the conference. Winning three of their remaining games will be essential for bowl eligibility this season.

As the team looks ahead, they will play at Utah and then face Arizona, West Virginia, Arizona State, and Kansas State to finish the season. Their next game at Rice-Eccles Stadium will be broadcast live on ESPN.
