Exciting Tennis Action Kicks Off at Swiss Indoors Basel 2025

BASSEL, Switzerland — The ATP Tour shifts its focus to Switzerland this week as the 2025 Swiss Indoors Basel takes place from October 20 to October 26. This tournament promises thrilling matches with top tennis stars competing on the indoor hard courts of St. Jakobshalle.

American players Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton headline the event, ranked fourth and sixth in the world, respectively. Both are strong contenders for the title, with Fritz noted for his impressive speed and agility on the court. He is seen as a potential challenger to top players like Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

Fritz’s teammate, Shelton, faces concerns over a persistent shoulder issue which may affect his performance. Tennis commentator Pam Shriver mentioned this injury and its implications on his game. Additionally, world No. 10 Holger Rune and world No. 12 Casper Ruud will also compete, adding to the tournament’s competitive atmosphere.

Joining them are other notable players including Félix Auger-Aliassime, Jiri Lehecka, Jakub Mensik, and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. Wildcard Valentin Vacherot, fresh from his win at the Shanghai Masters, is among the participants as well.

The Swiss Indoors Basel, located at St. Jakobshalle, is an indoor venue with seating for 8,000 spectators. With a total capacity of 12,400 including standing room, it is designed to host various sporting events. The arena was established by architect Giovanni Panozzo.

Tennis matches will be broadcast live on the Tennis Channel, with coverage starting at 5:30 a.m. ET for the first rounds and earlier on Wednesday at 1:00 a.m. ET. The semi-finals are scheduled for Saturday, October 25, at 9:00 a.m. ET, followed by the singles final on Sunday at the same time.

This year’s tournament features a prize pool of $2,915,972, with the champion set to receive $549,574 and 500 ranking points. The runner-up will take home $295,709 and 330 points. Other contestants will also earn substantial winnings for their performance throughout the week.
