Victor Wembanyama Nba Highlight

San Antonio, Texas – The NBA season has just begun, but one of the most talked-about topics has been the rise of Victor Wembanyama as a transformative player. On Monday night, Tracy McGrady, now an analyst for NBC and Peacock, expressed a strong desire to see Wembanyama featured more prominently in national broadcasts.

During Peacock’s NBA Showtime pregame show, McGrady passionately stated, “I got a message for the NBA, Adam Silver, NBC, Peacock, all of y’all: this man needs to be on (national) TV multiple times a week!” His comments come as the league prepares for its first exclusive NBA doubleheader of the season.

The San Antonio Spurs have 22 nationally televised games scheduled this season, with only five airing on NBC and two on Peacock. This puts them near the bottom compared to other popular teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics. There is understandable caution from the league about showcasing the Spurs, who have struggled recently.

Wembanyama, who won the 2024 NBA Rookie of the Year award, is currently delivering impressive statistics, averaging 31 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 4.8 blocks in the early part of the season. These figures make a strong case for increasing his visibility on national television.

A key aspect of the NBA’s new media rights deal is the potential for local broadcasts to be flexed into national games. Should Wembanyama continue his outstanding performance, the league may follow McGrady’s request and feature him more often.

The excitement surrounding Wembanyama’s play is palpable, and it seems likely that as he continues to perform at this level, McGrady’s plea will be heard.
