MTV Cancels ‘Ridiculousness’ After 14 Years and 46 Seasons
Los Angeles, CA – MTV has announced the cancellation of the comedy clip series “Ridiculousness” after 14 years and 46 seasons. The series, hosted by Rob Dyrdek, will continue to air previously filmed episodes into 2026, but no new episodes will be produced.
This decision comes as MTV, part of the Paramount umbrella, plans to shift its content focus towards a more curated lineup. A source close to the network indicated that MTV aims to embrace a more experimental style and showcase diverse creative voices.
<p"Ridiculousness," which debuted in August 2011, is one of MTV's longest-running series, accumulating over 1,700 episodes. Its reruns have been a staple of MTV's programming, once filling 113 hours of the network's 168-hour schedule. The show's prevalence has led some viewers to perceive it as a sign of MTV's challenges in producing original content.
The format of “Ridiculousness” features a mix of viral videos showcasing failed stunts, along with comedic commentary by Dyrdek and co-hosts Chanel West Coast and Lauren “Lolo” Wood.
Prior to the cancellation announcement, Bloomberg revealed that Dyrdek earned at least $32.5 million annually, including various bonuses and fees. These figures contribute to the network’s substantial investment in the show, as it ordered hundreds of episodes each year.
TMZ first reported the cancellation news.
