Timberwolves Edge Nets for Second Straight Win in NYC
NEW YORK — The Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Brooklyn Nets 125-109 on Monday night, marking their second consecutive victory.
The Timberwolves’ star player recorded his 15th career triple-double with 19 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. His teammate, Julius Randle, contributed significantly, finishing with 25 points in his first triple-double with the team.
The Nets struggled to find their rhythm once again, falling to 0-7 for the season. Mikal Bridges scored 25 points, while another player added 19 points. The Nets have a history of poor starts, recalling the 2009-10 season when they began with 18 straight losses.
Missing their All-Star guard due to a hamstring injury, the Timberwolves led by 12 points midway through the third quarter. However, the Nets mounted a comeback with a 24-13 run that briefly put them ahead at 88-87.
Despite this, Minnesota responded decisively, scoring four unanswered points from Randle and regaining the lead at the end of the third quarter. The Timberwolves opened the final period with a 6-0 run and maintained control throughout.
With an impressive shooting performance of 56% from the field and 41% from beyond the arc, the Timberwolves also dominated the boards, outrebounding the Nets 53-40.
Brooklyn’s next challenge comes as they host the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, while Minnesota will remain in New York to face the Knicks.
