Ryan Tannehill Spain Usaa Event

MIAMI, FL – Former Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill spoke about his future in football while visiting Spain with NFL legends Joe Theismann and Alejandro Villanueva. The trio participated in a USAA event at Naval Air Station Rota ahead of the Dolphins’ game against the Washington Commanders.

During the visit, Tannehill discussed his time with the Dolphins and the current struggles of the team, which has a record of 3-7 this season. He expressed hope that the Dolphins could build on their recent win against the Buffalo Bills and gain momentum moving forward.

Tannehill, who has been out of football since the end of the 2023 season, mentioned, “But just hope the Dolphins can build on what they did last week, and then hopefully if they get a win this week, you can just keep the ball rolling forward.” He emphasized the importance of taking it “one week at a time.”

When asked about current Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, Tannehill acknowledged that he does not have a close relationship with him but has heard positive things. “I think he’s a good player,” Tannehill said. “He’s grown a lot over the course of his career. Hopefully, he can keep growing and getting better.”

Tannehill’s NFL career spanned 11 seasons, during which he achieved significant milestones, including a Pro Bowl selection and the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award. Though rumors of a possible return to football circulated, Tannehill indicated he is content with his career decisions.

“I think that chapter is closed,” he said. “I think last year, that was where I was at, if the right opportunity came up and was right for our family.” He emphasized he has received calls from teams but did not find the right fit.

Given his achievements, Tannehill concludes his career with impressive statistics, including over 34,000 passing yards and a passer rating of 91.2. His history with the Dolphins is marked by consistency, ranking third all-time in passing yards and touchdowns for the franchise, behind only Dan Marino and Bob Griese. The trip to Spain also included a flag football game on the naval base, where the winning team received tickets to the NFL game later this week.
