Wisconsin Badgers Aim for Fourth Straight Win Against SIUE
MADISON, Wis. – The No. 24 Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball team will face Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) in their final home game of the season-opening homestand on Monday at the Kohl Center. The game is set to tip off at 7:00 p.m.
Wisconsin aims to improve to 4-0 for the second consecutive season, having won its first three games by significant margins. Fans unable to attend can catch the action on Big Ten Network or listen to the Badgers Radio Network with Matt Lepay and Charlie Wills providing commentary.
Last Tuesday, the Badgers secured a dominating 86-55 victory over Ball State, marking the fifth time in program history they scored 80 or more points in each of their season’s first three games. Junior Nolan Winter led the team with 19 points and 10 rebounds, achieving his fifth career double-double.
Historically, Wisconsin holds a perfect record against SIUE, winning both matchups, the last being an 88-58 win in 2008. This year’s game features an SIUE squad that enters with a 3-1 record, led by sophomore Ring Malith, who averages 17.8 points per game.
Coach Greg Gard praised his team’s early performances, stating, “Everybody wants to score, but the first priority has to be to have a successful team.” His players reflected the same mentality of teamwork and unselfish play.
Wisconsin boasts a strong inside presence, averaging over 14 offensive rebounds per game, which ranks fifth in the Big Ten Conference. They hope to maintain their dominant performance as they prepare for an upcoming road trip that includes games against top-ranked opponents.
Following the game against SIUE, Wisconsin will play No. 7 BYU and compete in the Rady Children’s Invitational over the Thanksgiving weekend, further heightening the stakes this season.
