Hamilton Defends His Efforts Amid Ferrari Struggles
Las Vegas, Nevada – Lewis Hamilton, the 40-year-old Formula One driver, has defended his commitment to improving Ferrari‘s underperforming team. Reacting to comments from Ferrari Chairman John Elkann, Hamilton stated he believes more effort will not quickly resolve the organization’s issues.
After a difficult debut season with the Scuderia, Hamilton expressed his frustration following a disappointing race in Brazil, where he failed to earn a podium finish. His remarks come as the team prepares for the upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Elkann suggested Hamilton should ‘focus on driving and talk less,’ but Hamilton countered that fixing Ferrari’s problems requires time and effort. ‘It takes real time. Of course it’s not been what any of us wanted in terms of a season,’ he said.
Currently, Hamilton is sixth in the drivers’ championship, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc by 66 points, as Ferrari sits fourth in the constructors’ standings. Hamilton reaffirmed his relationship with Elkann remains strong, despite the heated remarks.
‘Not really, I wake up thinking about it and I go to sleep thinking about it,’ Hamilton said of the suggestion to focus solely on driving. ‘If anything, I have to focus on being able to unplug more.’ He acknowledged the challenges of adapting to a new team environment amidst a trying year.
With Las Vegas being the 22nd race of the 24-race season, expectations for significant improvements in performance remain low, especially given the adverse weather conditions forecast for the event. Hamilton, while tackling persistent challenges, remains hopeful for future results despite expressing feelings of frustration during the season.
As Formula One continues to evolve in America, Hamilton—like the rest of the Ferrari team—faces scrutiny in the quest for higher performance levels at the Las Vegas circuit this weekend.
