Atlanta Hawks Comeback Victory Against Phoenix Suns

PHOENIX, Arizona — The Atlanta Hawks made a stunning comeback from a 22-point deficit in the fourth quarter, defeating the Phoenix Suns 124-122 on Sunday night. This victory marked the Hawks’ fifth consecutive win and ended the Suns’ five-game winning streak.

Nickell Alexander-Walker led the Hawks with 27 points, while Royce O’Neale contributed with a critical rebound after a missed free throw with just three seconds remaining. O’Neale was unable to convert a long shot from beyond halfcourt as time expired. Josh Johnson added 25 points and 10 rebounds, and another player recorded 11 points and 12 assists for Atlanta. The Hawks managed to secure the win despite missing All-Star guard Trae Young (right knee sprain) and center Kristaps Porzingis (right knee soreness).

For the Suns, Devin Booker scored 34 points, followed by another player with 27 points. Colin Gillespie chipped in 15 points, along with team highs of nine rebounds and eight assists. The Suns struggled without two key players: a teammate suffered from a right quadriceps contusion, and another key player is expected to miss at least four more weeks due to a strained right hamstring.

The game saw a dramatic shift in momentum as the Suns initially trailed for much of the first half. Atlanta built a 13-point lead, but Phoenix closed the first half on a 21-7 run, leading 58-57 at halftime. Dillon Brooks was crucial for the Suns during the third quarter, scoring 16 points. By the end of the third, Phoenix had opened up a commanding 95-77 lead.

Atlanta’s victory was sealed after a strong rally, with the team clinching the win amid concerns about Brooks, who left the game in the fourth quarter after an awkward fall while attempting a dunk. He was diagnosed with a left hip contusion but managed to walk off the court.

The Hawks are set to host the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night, while the Suns will travel to face the Portland Trail Blazers on the same evening.
