Aaron Curry Nfl Coach Jets Linebackers

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The New York Jets have added Aaron Curry to their defensive coaching staff as linebackers coach, according to a report by Ian Rapoport of NFL Media. The move comes under new head coach Aaron Glenn, who is assembling his staff ahead of the 2025 NFL season.

Curry, 38, brings a wealth of experience to the Jets, having spent the last two seasons as the inside linebackers coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Prior to that, he was with the Seattle Seahawks from 2019 to 2022, where he served as a coaching assistant and later as a defensive assistant.

Drafted fourth overall by the Seahawks in the 2009 NFL Draft, Curry played 35 games for Seattle before being traded to the Oakland Raiders midway through the 2011 season. He appeared in 13 games for the Raiders before his playing career concluded in 2012.

After retiring as a player, Curry transitioned to coaching at the collegiate level, working with the Charlotte 49ers from 2013 to 2018. He then returned to the NFL as a coach, where he has steadily built his reputation as a defensive specialist.

“Aaron Curry brings a unique perspective to our staff,” said Jets head coach Aaron Glenn. “His experience as a former player and his success as a coach make him a valuable addition to our team.”

The Jets are looking to bolster their defense under Glenn, who was hired earlier this offseason. Curry’s hiring is seen as a key step in strengthening the team’s linebacker corps, which has been a focal point for improvement.

Curry’s journey from a top draft pick to a respected coach has been marked by perseverance and adaptability. His ability to connect with players and his deep understanding of defensive schemes are expected to be assets for the Jets as they aim to compete in the highly competitive AFC East.
