Aaron Gordon Denver Nuggets Calf Injury

DENVER, Colo. — Aaron Gordon of the Denver Nuggets is managing a right calf injury, leaving his status in question for the team’s upcoming matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers on February 12, 2025. Gordon’s injury management began only recently, but its impact on the team’s performance could be significant.

This season, Gordon has played in 32 games, averaging 12.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. With a field goal percentage of 50.2% and a three-point shooting percentage of 41.4%, he’s been a vital component of the Nuggets’ success. However, in his last three games, he averaged just 9.7 points, a troubling sign for the injury-strapped team.

The Nuggets currently hold a strong record of 35-19, including a remarkable seven-game win streak. They are coming off a decisive 29-point victory against the Trail Blazers, where they showcased their shooting prowess with a 65.9% conversion rate from the field. Star center Nikola Jokic contributed heavily to that win, scoring 40 points in just 30 minutes of play.

In terms of injury reports, the Nuggets are not the only team grappling with player health issues. The Trail Blazers have six injured players, including Matisse Thybulle (ankle) and Deandre Ayton (calf). Both teams will be looking to fill gaps created by injuries. According to team statistics, when Gordon has been on the court, the Nuggets average 120.9 points per game; his absence could shift that dynamic significantly.

Nuggets’ interim head coach has remarked on the challenges the team faces despite its winning streak. “We’ve had to adapt and make adjustments,” he said. “Every player has stepped up in unique ways.” With the All-Star break on the horizon, managing injuries is crucial for the Nuggets’ playoff aspirations.

On the statistical end, Gordon has averaged 12.7 points as a starter, having been in the starting lineup for 23 games this season. His performance dips to an average of 10.6 points during home games, compared to a higher 13.1 points on the road. The consistency he showed in scoring at least 10 points in six consecutive games became a beacon of hope amidst the team’s injury-riddled lineup.

The matchup against the Trail Blazers will certainly test the Nuggets. With Murray listed as probable due to left knee inflammation, the return of key players like Murray could either fortify their chances or showcase the team’s vulnerability if they are unable to manage their injuries effectively. “It’s about the team effort,” said Jokic. “Everyone has to step up.”

The game is scheduled for 9:00 PM ET at Ball Arena. Fans can watch the matchup live on Fubo, a streaming service catering to sports enthusiasts.
