BRONX, N.Y. — Aaron Judge, the New York Yankees‘ star slugger, shared insight into his personal life and the pressures of being in Major League Baseball during a recent clubhouse interview. With a four-month-old daughter named Nora, Judge and his wife, Samantha, are navigating the challenges of parenthood without the help of a nanny.

“It’s just us doing it,” Judge said, laughing about the difficulties of getting a baby to nap. He acknowledged that the past year has brought profound changes both on and off the field for his family

Despite the pressures of the season and the looming expectations of chasing greatness, Judge emphasized that he is focusing on living moment to moment. “The past and the future can feel like traps,” he noted. As the Yankees prepared for their series against the Boston Red Sox, Judge found himself ranked second in the American League for home runs and batting average, with eyes on potentially winning the Triple Crown this season.

Reflecting on his time with the Yankees, Judge mentioned the importance of the tradition and history encapsulated in the team culture. He recounted his conversations with former teammate Anthony Rizzo about ‘The Yankee Way’, stressing the high expectations surrounding the franchise: “You either win a World Series, or you’re a failure.”

On game day, the atmosphere in the Bronx was electric. Before stepping up to the plate, Judge was aware of the significance of his position, batting second and aiming for a strong performance against the Red Sox. Judge’s dedication was palpable as he took his swings in batting practice, a time he described as an escape where he could embrace the joy of the game.

— After a tough game on Saturday where Judge struggled but still managed to hit two home runs, he met with reporters and spoke candidly about the team’s ups and downs, reaffirming his commitment to working hard and staying focused. “Just go back to work,” he stated simply, underscoring the relentless nature of being a professional athlete.
