PITTSBURGH, Pa. — NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers may be on the verge of a reunion with receiver Allen Lazard in Pittsburgh. According to sources, the Steelers are considering trading for Lazard, currently with the New York Jets, as they look to fill gaps in their roster.

Lazard, a 29-year-old receiver, has established a strong rapport with Rodgers over the years. The two previously played together in Green Bay and New York. “Why Lazard? Because Rodgers completely and totally trusts him. And Lazard performs much better with Rodgers than he does without him,” explained a source familiar with their connection.

Recently, Lazard renegotiated his contract, reducing his 2025 salary from $11 million to $2.5 million, with $1.75 million guaranteed. This adjustment makes him an attractive option for the Steelers, who currently have a vacant spot on their depth chart. Lazard had a productive 2024 season, recording 37 receptions for 530 yards and six touchdowns.

While Rodgers has not yet committed to signing with the Steelers, speculation suggests he is considering the move. Reports indicate that he may wait until after the NFL schedule is released to finalize any agreements, potentially to avoid unfavorable prime-time scheduling for the Steelers.

Pittsburgh is reportedly eager to add talent, especially if Rodgers joins the team, which could lead to a swift trade for Lazard. The synergy between the two players, honed over their years together, could provide a significant boost to the Steelers’ offense, especially as they work to integrate new players into their system.

In his seven-year career, Lazard has caught 229 passes for over 3,000 yards and 27 touchdowns. The possibility of this reunion has fans on both sides eager to see how it unfolds.
