Brendan Wolf, known for his recurring roles as medical professionals on TV, joked about his family ignoring his medical advice despite his on-screen expertise. The actor, who plays a doctor in the new Fox series ‘Doc,’ shared the humorous anecdote during an interview with ‘Live with Kelly and Mark‘ on January 6, 2025.

Wolf, 56, revealed that his wife and children recently fell ill with a mysterious virus. Despite his experience playing doctors on shows like ‘Everwood’ and ‘The Night Shift,’ his offer to help was met with skepticism. ‘My daughter has it the worst. My wife has it now,’ Wolf said. ‘I’m not a doctor, but I play one on TV.’

Host Kelly Ripa quipped, ‘You are basically a doctor at this point,’ to which Wolf responded, ‘I’m kind of a doctor!’ However, his wife was unimpressed. ‘She hung up the phone,’ he laughed, recounting the moment he tried to offer advice.

Wolf described his family’s symptoms, including his daughter’s stomach issues and his wife’s blisters on her hands. ‘It’s always when I’m away that these things happen,’ he said, adding that he was no longer contagious. ‘I’m not a doctor, but I play one on TV,’ he repeated, earning laughs from the audience.

Despite the lighthearted moment, Wolf praised his wife, calling her ‘the love of my life’ and ‘the smartest person in any room.’ He also teased their upcoming podcast, ‘Raised by Wolfs,’ set to launch next month. ‘It’s kind of the conversation you didn’t know you needed to have,’ he said.

‘Doc,’ which premieres on January 7, 2025, follows a doctor who loses her memory in a car accident. Wolf plays Dr. Richard Miller, a role he described as his ‘No. 1 favorite’ due to its complexity. The series airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Fox and streams on Hulu the following day.
