Actress Olivia Munn Reveals Breast Cancer Diagnosis And Treatment Journey

Actress Olivia Munn has bravely disclosed her battle with breast cancer, shedding light on her diagnosis and journey through treatment to inspire others facing similar challenges. In a candid Instagram post, Munn candidly shared her experiences, hoping to provide comfort, inspiration, and support to those on their own cancer journey.

In February 2023, Munn underwent a genetic test that returned negative results for all 90 cancer genes, including the well-known BRCA gene. Despite a clear mammogram that winter, she received a breast cancer diagnosis just two months later, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the disease.

Over the past ten months, the 43-year-old actress has endured four surgeries, numerous bedridden days, and a deep dive into the complexities of cancer and its treatments. Remarkably, Munn admitted to only crying twice, attributing her focused mindset to navigating the challenging process with determination.

Munn revealed that her OBGYN, Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, played a crucial role in uncovering her cancer risk. Dr. Aliabadi’s decision to conduct a breast cancer risk assessment led to the early detection of an aggressive Luminal B cancer in both breasts. Subsequently, Munn underwent a double mastectomy 30 days after the biopsy, emphasizing the importance of proactive medical evaluation.

Expressing gratitude to her support system and medical team at Cedars-Sinai and Saint John’s in Los Angeles for their care, Munn also thanked her partner, John Mulaney, for his unwavering presence during her treatment. Mulaney’s dedication and research efforts into each procedure and medication underscored his steadfast support throughout Munn’s challenging journey.
