Adam Miller Set to Play Despite Injury; ASU Faces Arizona

TUCCSON, Arizona — Arizona State guard Adam Miller is expected to play in Tuesday night’s highly anticipated game against the Arizona Wildcats, despite dealing with a hip pointer injury. Miller had been a question mark heading into the rivalry matchup but looks ready to compete at the McKale Memorial Center.
Miller sustained the injury last Wednesday during a game in which he scored 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting before briefly leaving the court. He did not play in Arizona State’s recent 99-73 loss to the Utah Utes, marking a significant absence for the Sun Devils as they approach this critical game.
“We’re just going to circle the wagons and play with a lot of pride and determination,” said ASU head coach Bobby Hurley. “We need everyone to step up.”
With the departure of BJ Freeman, Miller ranks fourth among active Sun Devils with an average of 10.2 points per game over 27 games this season, all of which he started. His shooting percentage has been impressive, with a field goal percentage of 45.9 percent and a three-point shooting percentage of 45.5 percent, making him one of the team’s top performers.
In stark contrast, center Jayden Quaintance will not be able to play on Tuesday due to a knee injury suffered in Arizona State’s win over Kansas State on February 23. Quaintance had been having a standout game with 18 points before the injury forced him to exit. Having missed the last two games, he was averaging 9.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game prior to the injury.
Fan anticipation for the rivalry game has reached a fever pitch. The Arizona Wildcats enter the matchup favored by 18 points. Betters have shown split interest, with 58 percent backing Arizona State against the spread.
Arizona’s recent form hasn’t been stellar either, as they have gone 2-3 in their last five games. The last meeting between these two teams was on February 1, 2025, where the Wildcats claimed a 9-point victory, successfully covering the 6.5-point spread. Notably, that match featured a late-game altercation that led to ejections, further intensifying the rivalry.
As both teams prepare for the clash, all eyes will be on Miller’s performance as ASU looks for redemption against a fierce rival. The game is set to tip off at 11:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
