Adam Zampa Withdraws From Ipl 2024 Due To Personal Reasons

A major setback hit the Rajasthan Royals squad as Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa decided to withdraw from the upcoming Indian Premier League 2024 due to personal reasons. Zampa, who was retained by Rajasthan Royals for INR 1.5 crore, opted out following an intense cricketing schedule after his participation in various series for Australia.

The news of Zampa’s withdrawal was confirmed by his manager to ESPNcricinfo, leaving the Royals without a key component in their bowling attack. Despite the presence of spinners like R Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal in the squad, Zampa’s absence will be sorely felt by the team.

Zampa’s contributions in the previous IPL season included notable performances, where he featured in six matches and claimed eight wickets at an average of 23.50. His standout performance of 3 for 22 against Chennai Super Kings showcased his bowling prowess and impact in crucial games.

Rajasthan Royals are already grappling with the absence of fast bowler Prasidh Krishna, who was ruled out for the entire IPL 2024 season following a quadriceps surgery. Co-owner of the franchise, Manoj Badale, expressed concerns about player availability and hinted at closer collaboration with the BCCI‘s medical department moving forward.

In a recent interview on the Sky Sports Cricket Podcast, Badale highlighted the importance of player fitness and emphasized the challenges faced by franchises when key players like Prasidh are unavailable for an entire season. This situation has urged the Royals to explore avenues for improving medical support for their players.
