In a gritty Saturday night match at Adelaide Oval, the Adelaide Crows showcased dominance over St Kilda in a rain-drenched clash. The Crows staged a remarkable comeback in the final quarter, securing victory with a 32-point margin over the struggling St Kilda side.

Key forward Riley Thilthorpe made a spectacular return in his first game of the season, coming on as a substitute and scoring two critical goals in the last quarter. The rain-soaked conditions didn’t hinder the Crows’ determination as they outplayed St Kilda with a final score of 10.11 (71) to 5.9 (39).

Emerging Crows player Jake Soligo shone brightly in the challenging weather, displaying exceptional performance with 25 disposals. The stalwarts of Adelaide, including Jordan Dawson with 26 disposals and the triple club champion Rory Laird with 31 disposals, set the tone for the Crows’ triumph.

St Kilda’s defender Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera was a standout for his team, amassing an impressive 29 possessions, while Mattaes Phillipou showcased his skills with 20 possessions and a sublime goal in the third quarter. The first quarter saw St Kilda leading 3.3 to 2.1, with Sharman converting two set shots and Phillipou making his mark with eight possessions. However, the Crows turned the tide in the second quarter, scoring three goals to secure a four-point halftime lead of 5.5 to 4.7.

The heavy rain persisted throughout the third term, resulting in a scoring stalemate until Phillipou’s remarkable goal breathed life into St Kilda. Nevertheless, Adelaide responded swiftly, maintaining an eight-point lead, 6.10 to 5.8, heading into the final quarter.

The final term belonged to the Crows, with Billy Dowling and the impactful Thilthorpe sealing the victory with crucial goals. Coach Matthew Nick praised his team for their mature turnaround and adept handling of the challenging conditions, reflecting on a satisfying win for Adelaide.
