BRISBANE, Australia — All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is poised to make its much-anticipated debut in Australia with the Grand Slam Australia event on February 15, 2025, at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. AEW President Tony Khan proclaimed the event is set to generate one of the largest gates in the company’s history.

Originally planned for the larger Suncorp Stadium, which can accommodate over 50,000 fans, the venue for Grand Slam was shifted to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, which holds just over 13,000 spectators. This change has raised eyebrows, as it suggests that ticket sales may not have met expectations. Despite this, Khan remains optimistic about the event’s potential socio-economic impact.

“It’s gonna be very exciting. It’s my first time doing a show here,” Khan expressed during an interview. “This is one of our biggest international events ever. Outside of Wembley Stadium in London, this is gonna be, I believe, our biggest international live gate of all time.”

In his remarks, Khan highlighted the enthusiasm surrounding the upcoming matches, which will include Mariah May defending the AEW Women’s Championship against Toni Storm and Mercedes Mone defending the AEW TBS Championship against Harley Cameron. The match card also features a tag team competition with marquee wrestlers Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega.

Despite speculation about venue changes and ticket sales, AEW’s venture marks a significant milestone as their first event in Australia, with local promoters urging the company to tap into the passionate wrestling fanbase in Queensland.

“I have a feeling it’s gonna be one of our most special events ever,” Khan said, capturing the spirit of anticipation among fans and the organization alike. The event will air on TNT following NBA All-Star weekend coverage and is expected to attract viewers from across the globe.

In recent years, AEW has grappled to cultivate an international audience, having previously hosted major events in London and Japan. The upcoming Australian showcase aims to solidify AEW’s global presence and create an electric atmosphere for wrestling fans in attendance.

As the event approaches, fans are buzzing with excitement and speculating about the potential surprises and match outcomes. AEW Grand Slam Australia is scheduled to begin at 10:30 PM Eastern, promising a thrilling night for wrestling enthusiasts.
