Air Jordan 17 Low Black/chrome Sneaker Release

New York, NY – The iconic Air Jordan 17 Low Black/Chrome is making a comeback in 2026. This reissue has generated buzz among sneaker fans, especially since it hasn’t been available since its original launch in 2002.

Sneaker Files and the prominent sneaker account @zsneakerheadz report that the 2026 release will not exactly replicate the original Black/Chrome style. Instead, the upcoming pair will feature glossy patent leather in place of the original smooth leather. The shoe will keep its classic chrome accents and croc-textured eyestay.

Currently, there are no images of the new model, but a speculative mock-up suggests it will closely resemble the original from 2002, albeit with a shiny finish.

This reissue is part of a broader strategy by the brand to revive models beyond the Air Jordan 14, which was the last shoe worn by Michael Jordan during his tenure with the Chicago Bulls. While enthusiasm for releases beyond the 14 has dwindled over the years, there seems to be a renewed interest in the Air Jordan 17 Low.

Internally, these upcoming styles are referred to as “once forgotten retros,” signaling a shift in marketing strategies. Following the successful releases of the Lightning and University Blue Air Jordan 17 Lows last year, fans speculate that more exciting releases are on the horizon.

The Air Jordan 17 Low Black/Chrome Patent is expected to hit stores in the fall of 2026, although details on retail pricing and style codes are not yet available. More information will likely be released in the coming months.
