Akshay Kumar‘s latest Bollywood film ‘Sarfira‘ faced a slower start at the box office than initially anticipated. The Hindi remake of the 2020 Tamil hit ‘Soorarai Pottru‘ earned approximately Rs 2.40 crore on its opening day in India.

The film, directed by Sudha Kongara and starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role, had high expectations but fell short in terms of the opening day collection. In a clash with Kamal Haasan‘s ‘Indian 2’, ‘Sarfira’ struggled to make a mark at the box office.

Despite a gradual increase in occupancy throughout the day, ‘Sarfira’ recorded lower numbers than Akshay Kumar’s recent releases like ‘Selfiee’ and ‘Ram Setu’. The film features a talented ensemble cast including Radhika Madan, Paresh Rawal, and Seema Biswas, with a special appearance by Suriya.

‘Sarfira’ narrates the inspiring story of Captain Gopinath, the visionary behind India’s first low-cost airline. Despite the engaging storyline and emotional depth, the film failed to attract a significant audience on its opening day.

The Times of India reported on the film’s debut and highlighted ‘Sarfira’s’ competition with ‘Indian 2’. With ‘Sarfira’ aiming to showcase Akshay Kumar in a unique role and setting, the struggle at the box office has brought attention to the film’s performance in the coming days.
