PARIS, France — Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have both advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2025 French Open, continuing their promising careers in tennis. Alcaraz, who won the tournament in 2024, is looking to defend his title, while Sinner aims to secure his first French Open victory.

In the lead-up to their quarterfinal matches, former world number one Andy Roddick provided insights on both players. Roddick, who last won a Grand Slam in 2003, expressed his admiration for both Alcaraz and Sinner but was cautious in predicting their futures. “I don’t know is the answer,” he said. “My thing would just be on their early things we have seen with Alcaraz and injuries. I don’t know how a body moves that fast for 15 years.”

Roddick added a comparison to Rafael Nadal, cautioning that early injury concerns don’t always dictate a player’s longevity. He noted Sinner’s consistent performance and methodical approach. “Sinner just seems to have the same algorithm. I view him as the piece of software,” Roddick expressed.

As of now, Alcaraz holds a slight advantage over Sinner in their head-to-head record at 7-4. Both players have already won 19 ATP Tour titles. Alcaraz has claimed three titles in the 2025 season so far, while Sinner won his only title this year at the Australian Open before a three-month ban.

With the French Open entering its crucial stages, fans are eager to see how Alcaraz and Sinner perform, and whether they can continue to build their legacies in the sport. Their rivalry, characterized by distinct playing styles, promises an exciting future in tennis.
