In a recent move, the American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies have signed Alex Nylander to a one-year contract. The Marlies are the affiliate team for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Nylander, 26, is known for being the younger brother of Maple Leafs star William Nylander. Last season, Alex finished strong after being traded to the Penguins in February, where he produced some impressive numbers.

Standing at 6 feet 1 inch, the winger netted 11 goals and racked up a total of 15 points in just 28 games, splitting his time between the Penguins and the Blue Jackets, with all his offensive contributions coming after his trade.

Previously, he was on a one-year, $775,000 contract he signed with Pittsburgh back in April 2023. Nylander was drafted eighth overall by the Buffalo Sabres in 2016 and has since accumulated 25 goals and 49 points over 121 career games across various teams, including the Sabres, Penguins, and Blue Jackets.

Beyond his club adventures, he’s represented Sweden three times at the World Junior Championships, notably bringing home a silver medal in 2018. Most recently, he played at the World Championship in 2023, adding another international experience to his resume.
