MÉXICOAlexis Vega is determined to win a championship with Toluca after overcoming personal challenges. As the team’s key player, he faces America in the Liga MX final.

The 27-year-old regained his happiness playing for Toluca and is ready to repay football. He mentioned, “Football and life owe me a debt,” during a media day before the final.

Vega’s father, Ernesto, shared insights about his son’s journey. He recalled a heartbreaking moment when Alexis cried after losing a final against Tigres. After that loss, he had to leave Chivas, where he struggled with depression.

Ernesto said, “He was very sad; it was a tough time for him. He needed to find a place where he could rejuvenate.”

After transitioning to Toluca, where he received support from coach José Saturnino Cardozo, Vega started to flourish again. Cardozo reassured him, saying Toluca was home and that he could regain his form.

Under the guidance of coach Antonio Mohamed, Vega has excelled this season, scoring nine goals and assisting eight times, making him a significant threat in the final.

<p“Toluca prepared him physically with a tailored plan that included therapy and training,” Ernesto explained. “He is now at his best, lighter and more agile.”

Despite a poor performance against America earlier this season, there is a belief in Vega’s inner circle that he can rise to the occasion this time. Ernesto concluded, “He has retrieved his level, and now it’s time to win.”
