Allegri Prioritizes Maignan’s Contract Renewal Amidst AC Milan’s Challenges

Milano, Italy – Massimiliano Allegri, head coach of AC Milan, emphasizes the importance of renewing goalkeeper Mike Maignan‘s contract as part of his vision for the team.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Allegri received assurances from sporting director Igli Tare and CEO Giorgio Furlani about key player renewals before signing his contract. Maignan is a crucial part of Allegri’s plans.
After months of inaction, AC Milan is set to resume discussions with Maignan’s agents regarding his renewal. A verbal agreement for a salary of €5 million net per year, plus bonuses, was discussed in December, but the situation stalled following the team’s elimination from the Champions League.
Maignan’s recent performance issues contributed to the standstill, but now the club aims to restart negotiations. Tare has reached out to the player’s representatives to clarify who is genuinely committed to the project’s goals.
As the team’s captain, Maignan has expressed his desire to remain with AC Milan and redeem the team after a disappointing eighth-place finish this season. He stated, “My heart is heavy … We ended a tough season! Everyone who loves and supports Milan, we are disappointed. There are no excuses, we are Milan.”
He emphasized the importance of fan support and the club’s identity, declaring, “With your support, Milan will always be Milan. SEMPRE FORZA MILAN.”
With Allegri counting on Maignan and other leaders to help restore the club’s fortunes, both parties are hopeful for a positive conclusion to the renewal discussions.
