Allison Holker’s Memoir Sparks Family Tensions Over Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss’s Legacy
Allison Holker, the widow of Stephen 'tWitch' Boss, is facing backlash from family and friends over revelations in her upcoming memoir, ‘Dancing Through the Storm.’ The book, set for release on Feb. 4, details Holker’s journey of healing after Boss’s death by suicide in December 2022. However, excerpts shared in a recent People magazine cover story have drawn sharp criticism from Boss’s mother, Connie Boss Alexander, and others close to the family.
In the interview, Holker revealed that while preparing for Boss’s funeral, she discovered a ‘cornucopia’ of drugs hidden in his closet, including mushrooms, pills, and other substances. She also shared that Boss’s journals contained entries about childhood trauma, including alleged sexual abuse, which she had been unaware of during their marriage. Holker stated that her intention in writing the book is to help others who may be struggling with similar issues.
Connie Boss Alexander, however, has called the claims ‘misleading and hurtful,’ stating that the family is ‘absolutely appalled’ by the portrayal of her son. She emphasized that Boss’s memory and legacy should be protected, not exploited. Courtney Ann Platt, a friend of Boss and former colleague of Holker on ‘So You Think You Can Dance,’ accused Holker of launching a ‘smear campaign for a buck,’ calling the memoir ‘tacky’ and ‘classless.’
Holker defended her decision to share Boss’s struggles, saying she hopes the book will help others recognize warning signs of mental health issues. She also announced that proceeds from the memoir will benefit the Move with Kindness Foundation, which she established in Boss’s honor to promote mental health awareness.
The controversy has divided those close to the couple, with some, like Jenna Dewan, supporting Holker’s efforts to raise awareness, while others, including Boss’s brother DrĂ© Rose, have criticized her for airing private details. As the release date approaches, the debate over Holker’s memoir continues to stir emotions among those who knew and loved Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss.
