Alperen Sengun Shines as Rockets Continue Winning Streak
HOUSTON, Texas — Alperen Sengun, the 23-year-old center for the Houston Rockets, is having a stellar start to the 2025-26 NBA season. After being named an All-Star for the first time last season, Sengun has significantly improved his performance while playing alongside All-Star teammate Kevin Durant.
Through the first 11 games of the season, Sengun’s statistics reflect a remarkable uptick. He is averaging 22.4 points, 7.4 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game. This comes after the Rockets won eight of their last nine contests, bringing them to an impressive record of 8-3.
One of the most notable developments in Sengun’s game is his 3-point shooting. Increasing his shooting from distance from 23.3% last season to an impressive 45.9% this season, he is making an average of 1.5 shots from beyond the arc per game. During a recent game, he hit four 3-pointers, showcasing his ability to space the floor effectively.
In a postgame press conference, Sengun credited his summer training for this improvement. “I’ve worked on it this summer, a lot,” he said. “Cam (Hodges, Rockets assistant coach) was over there, and I had a Serbian coach (Djordje Sijan). We worked from the beginning on my shooting style. I know I can shoot, and the only thing for me was confidence.”
During a recent game, Sengun achieved an impressive stat line of 25 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks, with 66.7% shooting from 3-point range, while the Rockets dominated with a +21 rating in his 36 minutes on the court.
The Rockets will look to continue their momentum in their upcoming game against the Sacramento Kings (7-6) on Sunday, which is set to tip off at 6:00 p.m. Central. The game will be broadcasted regionally and nationally via NBA League Pass.
