Alvin Kamara Named Captain for Remainder of 2024 NFL Season
Alvin Kamara, a key player for the New Orleans Saints, has been named a team captain for the remainder of the 2024 NFL season. This announcement came on Saturday, marking a significant change in the team’s leadership structure. Kamara, who has been one of the Saints’ biggest leaders, did not hold the captain title at the start of the season, despite his previous experience as a captain in the past.
This move is part of a series of changes implemented by interim head coach Darren Rizzi, who took over after the departure of Dennis Allen. Rizzi has made several notable adjustments, including changes to the locker room layout and the pace of practices. The decision to make Kamara a captain is seen as a natural fit given his influence on the team.
Kamara has had a notable month, not only being named captain but also recently becoming the New Orleans Saints’ all-time leading rusher, surpassing Mark Ingram‘s record. On the field, Kamara has been performing well, with 150 rushes for 660 yards and six touchdowns, along with 46 catches for 367 yards this season.
As the Saints prepare for their Week 10 game against the Atlanta Falcons, Kamara is expected to play after fully participating in his most recent practice. His injury status, related to a hand issue, does not currently indicate any game status concerns.
