NEW YORK — Actor Andrew Rannells shared a nostalgic moment on the latest episode of *Today*, where he revisited a 1996 TV commercial featuring a young Amy Adams. The Broadway star, currently promoting his production *All In: Comedy About Love*, was surprised with a throwback clip from a bank ad parodying the musical *Grease*.

“But do you recognize the girl in the middle? Amy Adams!” Rannells exclaimed after hosts played the Omaha-based commercial. The ad, which aired nearly three decades ago, showcased Rannells and Adams in a playful parody of the hit musical.

When asked if he had reconnected with Adams since the commercial, Rannells recounted a humorous encounter at the Golden Globes. “The one time I was asked to the Golden Globes, she was there. And you know it’s, like, the Hunger Games of celebrities,” he said. “I maybe walked towards her with a little too much enthusiasm, and her husband sort of got up and, like, blocked my path.”

Rannells continued, “And I was like, ‘Amy, it’s me! Andy Rannells! We did a commercial together in Omaha in 1996!’ I just started shouting at her.” Despite the awkwardness, the two managed to reconnect. “She was very nice,” Rannells recalled. “And then, weirdly, I saw her many times after that. She was always very sweet. And you know what? I’m going to say it: I knew when I met her she was something special.”

Both actors have since achieved significant success in their careers. Adams, a six-time Academy Award nominee, is generating Oscar buzz for her latest role in Marielle Heller‘s upcoming film. Rannells, a two-time Tony Award nominee and Grammy winner, has also made his mark in film, television, and theater, including his recent role in *All In*.

The *Today* segment highlighted the humble beginnings of the two stars, reminding viewers of their journey from a small Omaha bank commercial to Hollywood acclaim.
