Ander Herrera Boca Juniors Training Injury

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – Ander Herrera‘s journey at Boca Juniors has taken a challenging turn as he faces a new injury setback just months after joining the club. The Spanish midfielder, who moved to Boca after a successful tenure at Athletic Club, sustained another muscle injury during a recent training session, sidelining him once again.

Initially welcomed warmly by fans and teammates, Herrera’s stint at Boca has been marred by multiple injuries since his arrival. The 34-year-old has struggled to find consistent playing time and has missed six matches across all competitions due to various ailments. His previous hamstring injury kept him out of a crucial first leg in the Copa Libertadores, where Boca was ultimately eliminated by Alianza Lima.

Coach Fernando Gago had counted on Herrera to be a central figure in Boca’s campaign this season, and the club is now taking a cautious approach to his recovery. “We want to avoid risking Ander further,” a club spokesperson stated, emphasizing the need to adhere to a conservative rehabilitation protocol to prevent long-term damage.

Despite his leadership role on the field, Herrera’s inability to participate consistently has raised concerns among the coaching staff. Their priority is to ensure he returns fully fit and can contribute effectively to Boca’s project. With the international break approaching, there is a silver lining for Herrera; this pause presents an opportunity for him to focus on his recovery without the added pressure of weekly matchups.

The club and its supporters remain hopeful that the international match hiatus will allow Herrera ample time to recuperate and return to full fitness. Boca Juniors expects him to heal promptly, enabling him to regain his position and help guide the team through the remainder of the season.
