Andrew Bogut Predicts Jack McVeigh’s Return to Tasmania JackJumpers
In a recent episode of his podcast, Rogue Bogues, former NBA player Andrew Bogut shared his insights on the potential return of Jack McVeigh to the Tasmania JackJumpers basketball team. McVeigh, who has been playing under a two-way contract with the Houston Rockets in the NBA, might make his way back to Tasmania by December, according to rumours Bogut discussed.
“I’ve heard rumours that Tasmania’s preparing for him to be back December-ish,” Bogut disclosed, indicating that the JackJumpers may be expecting McVeigh’s return earlier than anticipated. Despite McVeigh’s current association with the Rockets, his future with the team appears uncertain due to the depth of the Houston roster, particularly in the positions McVeigh plays.
Bogut expressed his hope for McVeigh’s success in the NBA, but highlighted the competitive nature of the squad with “a lot of guys in the three-four position, young athletes, and a lot of their previous picks [who] play that similar position.” This crowding may influence McVeigh’s decision to either remain in the G-League or head back to Tasmania to compete in the NBL.
Addressing the possible scenarios, Bogut stated, “I’m sure Houston will be honest with him at that point.” The team might consider keeping McVeigh as a “call-up guy” for the NBA season or potentially returning him to Tasmania if he is not a permanent fixture on the roster. This has left McVeigh with the possibility of playing in the G-League for the entire season or making the choice to rejoin the JackJumpers.
McVeigh made a significant impact during his previous stint with the JackJumpers, culminating in his being named the Championship Series MVP as he led the team to their first historic title. His potential return could be a significant boost for the team as they prepare for the upcoming NBL season.
