Andy Griffith Show Reunion Special

LOS ANGELES, CA — Fans of the classic sitcom The Andy Griffith Show can look forward to a special reunion airing this Sunday, May 4, at 5 p.m. EST on MeTV. This one-hour special originally aired on February 10, 1993, and reunites cast members to celebrate the beloved show that aired from 1960 to 1968.

The reunion features Andy Griffith, Don Knotts, Ron Howard, and Jim Nabors discussing their favorite memories from the series. During the program, Griffith shares classic clips and personal anecdotes, while Howard recalls how his real-life relationship with his father inspired Opie’s dynamic with Andy.

In addition to interviews, the show includes rare home videos shot by Howard’s mother on set. A variety of celebrities also share their thoughts on the impact of The Andy Griffith Show, with appearances from musicians and sports figures.

MeTV marks the “Month of Mayberry” with more than just the reunion. The channel will air episodes of The Andy Griffith Show and its spin-off, Mayberry R.F.D., throughout May. Viewers can also catch the 1986 TV movie Return to Mayberry, which features many of the original cast and serves as a tribute to the series.

Originally airing in a Top 10 slot for its entire run, The Andy Griffith Show remains a staple of American television. Its heartwarming stories and character-driven comedy continue to resonate with audiences even today.

As part of May’s programming, the reunion special will be part of a nostalgic look back at the show’s enduring legacy. Will you be tuning in this Sunday?
