Angel Reese Wins Third Consecutive BET Sportswoman of the Year Award

LOS ANGELES, California — Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has been honored as the 2025 BET Sportswoman of the Year for the third consecutive year. The award was presented at the 2025 BET Awards on Monday night.
Reese, who is only 23, beat out notable nominees including A’ja Wilson, Claressa Shields, Coco Gauff, and Simone Biles for the honor. She is now alongside tennis legend Serena Williams as the only athletes to win this award three times.
The recognition follows Reese’s rise to fame during her time at LSU, where she led the Tigers to their first NCAA championship in 2023. Since joining the Sky in 2024, she has garnered attention for her rebounding skills and aggressive playing style.
This season, despite the Sky’s challenging start with a record of 2-5, Reese is averaging 9.1 points, 12.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.6 steals over her first seven games. Her ability to influence the game has made her a significant presence in the WNBA.
In addition to her award, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was honored with the BET Sportsman of the Year award for the second time in three years after leading his team to a Super Bowl victory in February.
Reese’s achievements have not gone unnoticed, with both the Chicago Sky and the WNBA publicly congratulating her on social media. Her impact extends beyond the court, as she actively advocates for women’s sports.
As the Chicago Sky prepare for their next game against the New York Liberty, Reese’s accomplishments continue to inspire many within the sports community.
