Angelo Mathews Finds Form In T20i Comeback For Sri Lanka

Angelo Mathews, once a key player for Sri Lanka‘s white-ball teams, has seen a resurgence in form during his recent comeback to the T20I side.

Despite facing fitness challenges and a shift in team dynamics over the years, Mathews impressed with a crucial knock in the recent series against Zimbabwe and Afghanistan.

In his latest innings, Mathews showcased his hitting prowess, including a blazing 42 not out off 22 balls, providing Sri Lanka with much-needed finishing power.

Partnering with Sadeera Samarawickrama, Mathews credited their strategy of one holding the innings while the other attacked as key to his success.

His performance has been a significant improvement since his return to the T20I side, delivering crucial runs and contributing with the ball as well.

Mathews’ all-round contribution has added depth to the Sri Lankan team, especially with other key players like Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman missing in the recent series.

His willingness to adapt and play a dual role of batting and bowling has added versatility to Sri Lanka’s game plan, with Mathews expressing his commitment to giving his best for the team.

With a new set of selectors on board, Mathews seems to have found a renewed sense of purpose and enjoyment in his cricket, signaling a potential resurgence for the seasoned player.
