Yoán Moncada Baseball Game Highlights

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Los Angeles Angels staged a thrilling comeback, defeating the Oakland Athletics 7-5 on Tuesday night. Yoán Moncada, in just his 13th game back from the injured list, hit a three-run homer that played a crucial role in the Angels’ victory.

The Angels were trailing by three runs during the fifth inning when Moncada connected with a pitch and sent it soaring 439 feet into the trees beyond the right field berm, tying the game at 4-4. Angels catcher Logan O’Hoppe praised Moncada’s impact, saying, “He’s such a good hitter, and it’s pretty fun to watch how he approaches the day.”

This win marked the Angels’ first five-game winning streak of the season, bringing their record to 22-25. Manager Ron Washington noted Moncada’s disciplined approach influences other players in the lineup, saying, “He makes the pitcher work, and the more he makes the pitcher work, the benefit goes to the next guy.”

Since Moncada returned to the lineup on May 6 after missing a month due to a thumb injury, he has lifted the team’s performance to 8-5. He boasts a .910 OPS and has driven in 12 runs during that span. O’Hoppe contributed significantly as well, hitting a solo home run earlier in the game.

The bullpen’s strong performance ensured the Angels maintained their lead after taking it in the fifth inning. Right-hander Kyle Hendricks, who struggled earlier in the season with a 5.32 ERA, delivered another solid outing. This was his fourth appearance in five days, and he recorded his 10th save of the season.

The Angels have shown improvement across the board in recent games, with better situational hitting and reliable defense contributing to their success. O’Hoppe commented on the team’s progress, stating, “It’s great… we’re going to enjoy this and ride this wave as long as we can.”
