Angkrish Raghuvanshi Aims for Red Ball Cricket Glory

KOLKATA, India — Angkrish Raghuvanshi, a 20-year-old player for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), is making waves this IPL season with his impressive performance. His ambition extends beyond T20 cricket as he aims to establish himself in red ball cricket, especially in the Ranji Trophy.
Raghuvanshi has tallied 241 runs this season, showcasing his ability to both rotate the strike and hit big under pressure. He currently stands as one of KKR’s top contributors, just behind captain Ajinkya Rahane, who has scored 297 runs. “There are a lot of ambitions. It’s about thinking of the next match…if I have a red ball match, I will think about how I’ll score big in that match,” he said in an interview with The Hindu.
This is Raghuvanshi’s second year in the IPL, and he has rapidly adapted to batting at different positions in the middle order. “To be honest, I’m not sure about my flexibility. I have only opened in my life. This is a learning experience for me,” he explained.
Maintaining his focus, Raghuvanshi stated that his approach remains unchanged. “It’s just the same — prepare well, try to figure out what the bowlers are doing and react to the ball,” he said.
Taking cues from veteran players, Raghuvanshi has benefited greatly from the guidance of his captain, Rahane. “He is a role model, always leads from the front and inspires us to do well,” Raghuvanshi noted. He also interacts with players from other teams to learn new strategies and methods to enhance his gameplay.
As KKR prepares for a crucial match against the Rajasthan Royals, Raghuvanshi’s development as a player will be closely watched. With growing support from his family and teammates, he remains determined to succeed both in the IPL and in red-ball cricket.
