Angkrish Raghuvanshi Shines with Maiden IPL Half-Century for KKR
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have unearthed a new talent in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as Angkrish Raghuvanshi showcased a brilliant performance, scoring his maiden half-century off just 25 deliveries against Delhi Capitals at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
Raghuvanshi’s aggressive batting style led him to four boundaries and three sixes, propelling him to his first-ever IPL fifty. Stepping in after the dismissal of Phil Salt by Anrich Nortje, Raghuvanshi formed a blazing 104-run partnership with Sunil Narine, setting the tone for KKR’s innings.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi hails from Mumbai and is a promising talent in the Indian domestic cricket scene. He is known for his right-hand aggressive batting and slow left-arm orthodox spin bowling.
Having debuted in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament last year, Raghuvanshi has played a total of eight T20 matches, showcasing his prowess with 138 runs at an average of 23. In addition, he has participated in five List A matches, accumulating 133 runs at an average of 26.60.
Despite being a left-arm spinner, Raghuvanshi’s bowling skills are yet to be fully showcased in professional cricket. However, Kolkata Knight Riders have a potential all-rounder in their ranks in the form of the 18-year-old.
Notably, Raghuvanshi’s journey from Gurgaon to Mumbai has been fueled by his cricketing ambitions, with his younger brother, Krishan Raghuvanshi, making strides in tennis. Their family has faced challenges, with Krishan’s medical condition requiring extensive care, which has instilled mental toughness in Angkrish.
His standout performance in the U-19 World Cup, where he scored 278 runs, caught the attention of selectors, eventually leading to his selection in the Kolkata Knight Riders squad for the IPL 2024 season.
