Anne Hathaway Cast as Verity Crawford in Colleen Hoover’s ‘Verity’ Movie, Fans Express Disappointment
Academy Award-winning actress Anne Hathaway has been cast as Verity Crawford in the upcoming movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover‘s best-selling thriller, ‘Verity’. The announcement, made by Colleen Hoover on Instagram, has sparked a mixed reaction among fans of the book.
In the novel, Verity Crawford is a rich and famous author who is unable to complete her successful book series after a mysterious accident. Her husband, Jeremy, hires Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer, to finish the series. Fans are confused and disappointed by Hathaway’s casting as Verity, as they feel she would be more suited to play the role of Lowen Ashleigh instead.
The book describes Verity as a woman with long blonde hair and blue eyes, whereas Lowen has brown hair and black eyes. Anne Hathaway, known for her long dark hair and eyes, does not match the physical description of Verity, leading to the backlash from fans. Many have taken to social media platforms like TikTok to express their disappointment and suggest alternative casting choices, such as Rosamund Pike for the role of Verity.
Despite the fan reaction, Colleen Hoover expressed her excitement about the casting and the entire production team, including director Michael Showalter. Hathaway, along with Hoover and Showalter, will also serve as producers for the film. A release date for the movie has not been announced yet.
