Anteaters Basketball Team Celebrating Victory

IRVINE, Calif. — Myles Che scored a career-high 31 points, leading the UC Irvine Anteaters to an emphatic 88-59 win over the Cal State Northridge Matadors on Tuesday night. This victory marks the Anteaters’ second-to-last game of the regular season and strengthens their position in the upcoming conference tournament.

Che’s remarkable performance was complemented by his teammates Devin Tillis and Bent Leuchten, who significantly contributed to a dominant first half. The Anteaters initially took command, establishing a 20-point lead at halftime, which they maintained throughout the game.

This win comes on the heels of a prior victory where Che scored 19 points as UC Irvine secured a hard-fought 70-60 win against UC San Diego, keeping them just one game behind the leaders. That earlier success solidified the Anteaters’ position and ensured a double bye heading into the tournament semifinals.

“We executed our game plan flawlessly tonight, and I’m proud of the team’s effort,” Che said after the game. “Every game counts as we aim for the championship. We’re looking forward to carrying this momentum into the tournament.”

The Anteaters’ record now stands at 22-6, reflecting their solid performance throughout the season, and they look poised for a deep run in the postseason. Their last regular-season game will be against Long Beach State on March 9, where they will aim to finish with an impressive standing.
