Anthony Edwards Shines as Timberwolves Lead Lakers 3-1 in Playoffs

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota — Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves is emerging as a key player in the NBA Playoffs, leading his team to a 3-1 series advantage over the Los Angeles Lakers. In a thrilling Game 4 on April 28, 2025, Edwards scored 43 points, helping the Timberwolves secure a 116-113 victory.
Edwards has taken on the challenge of competing against two of the league’s top stars, LeBron James and Luka Doncic, and has excelled. “I’m not intimidated by anybody,” Edwards stated after the game. He has demonstrated remarkable performance throughout the playoffs and is showing continual improvement.
His success has not come without guidance. Teammate Donte DiVincenzo has played a crucial role in Edwards’ development, offering insight into defensive strategies. “That’s because of my boy right here,” Edwards said, referring to DiVincenzo. “He does a great job of telling me what they are doing out there defensively, which sometimes I don’t even recognize. It makes it easier for me for sure.” Edwards set a record during the game, becoming the youngest player to reach 100 career three-pointers in the playoffs.
DiVincenzo praised Edwards, highlighting how he has overcome challenges to develop as a player. “During down times, he’s learned from it,” DiVincenzo said. “His highs are extremely high. He knows how to perform when it matters most.”
Meanwhile, Julius Randle, another Timberwolves standout, contributed significantly in Game 4 with 25 points and seven rebounds. His performance included 21 points in the first half, solidifying the Timberwolves’ lead. Randle joined the team after a major trade that sent Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks. Since then, he has adapted his game to fit the Timberwolves’ needs.
Reflecting on his adjustment, Randle noted that his scoring average has dropped since the trade, but emphasized that the team’s success is more important than individual statistics. “It’s not just about numbers. It’s about impact,” he said.
With a commanding series lead, the Timberwolves are looking stronger than ever in their quest to advance further in the playoffs.
