Arcane: League of Legends Expands with New Animated Series Set in Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia
The critically acclaimed animated series Arcane: League of Legends has concluded its second and final season, but the League of Legends cinematic universe is far from over. Showrunner Christian Linke has confirmed that three new animated series are in production, each set in different regions of the League of Legends world: Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia.
These new series will continue the storytelling tradition established by Arcane, which focused on the sisters Vi and Jinx and the conflict between the cities of Piltover and Zaun. The French animation studio Fortiche, known for its award-winning work on Arcane, will once again be at the helm for these new productions.
Noxus, known for its vicious and powerful nature, will be a key setting, particularly given the recent storyline involving Mel Medarda. Ionia, a peaceful region composed of several allied provinces, and Demacia, a strong and lawful kingdom, will also be explored in depth. These settings will introduce new champions and continue the world-building that Arcane initiated.
Production on the next series has already been underway for about a year, according to Linke, who emphasized the team’s commitment to telling fresh stories while continuing some of the threads from Arcane. This expansion is part of a larger strategy to build a comprehensive slate of stories within the League of Legends universe.
The success of Arcane, which included winning a Primetime Emmy Award and an Annie Award, has set a high standard for these upcoming series. With a reported $250 million budget for Arcane, the focus on quality animation and storytelling is expected to continue in these new productions.
