South Florida Weather Cold Front February 2025

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – A cold front moving through South Florida is set to bring an end to an unprecedented warmth as Arctic air overtakes much of the nation. Starting Thursday morning, strong north winds will usher in cool, dry conditions across Miami-Dade, Broward counties, and the Florida Keys.

The arrival of this cold front is a stark contrast to the above-average temperatures seen in February. Since the beginning of the month, Miami has recorded highs exceeding 80 degrees Fahrenheit, significantly above the typical upper 70s for this time of year. Reports also show that nighttime temperatures have remained elevated.

Forecasters indicate that the shift in temperatures will take effect Thursday night into Friday morning. Low temperatures are predicted to fall to around 60 degrees Fahrenheit, with some areas potentially seeing readings in the 50s. This change marks a drop from the seasonal average low of 64 degrees for both Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

While the colder temperatures will slightly moderate over the weekend, conditions are expected to align closer to seasonal norms. Betty Davis, the chief certified meteorologist for Local 10, emphasizes the significance of this change, stating, “This winter return is typical for South Florida but is a welcome relief after our unusually warm February.”

The upcoming temperature adjustment will not only impact daily life in South Florida but also influence local wildlife and landscaping, which have been adjusting to the warmer conditions.
