Arizona Cardinals Draft Cody Simon in Fourth Round of 2025 NFL Draft

COLumbus, Ohio — The Arizona Cardinals selected Cody Simon, an inside linebacker from Ohio State, in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, making him the 115th overall pick.
Simon, who played for five seasons at Ohio State, had a remarkable impact during his final year when the team competed for a national title. After initially serving as a reserve, he became a starter in 2024 and emerged as a key defensive leader on the field.
During a standout game against Indiana in 2024, Simon recorded 10 tackles, 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a recovery, leading Ohio State to a decisive 38-15 victory. His performance was crucial in the team’s midseason defensive overhaul, showcasing his ability against one of the top offenses in college football.
“He may not have elite physical traits, but he is a fundamentally sound linebacker with great football intelligence,” said a scouting report. “He can diagnose plays quickly and does an excellent job slipping past blocks.”
Despite losing starting inside linebacker Kyzir White to free agency, the Cardinals added Simon to their roster, hoping he can develop into a valuable team member. The Cardinals previously drafted players from Ohio State, including Paris Johnson Jr. and Marvin Harrison Jr.
Simon earned recognition as a team captain in 2024 and was a significant contributor to the Buckeyes’ national championship run, finishing the season with 112 tackles and seven sacks. He is expected to start his NFL career as a backup inside linebacker while making a mark on special teams in 2025.
