Arkansas Razorbacks Host Winthrop Eagles in Men’s Basketball Matchup
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The #21/22 Arkansas Razorbacks men’s basketball team will host the Winthrop Eagles on Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. CT, as part of a four-game homestand at Bud Walton Arena.
This marks the second meeting between the two teams, with Arkansas winning the first encounter 72-49 during the 2004-05 season in the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands. In that game, Olu Famutimi led the Razorbacks with 17 points and eight rebounds.
Currently, Arkansas holds a record of 3-1, while Winthrop stands at 2-2. The Razorbacks aim to build on their previous successes, including their recent victories over Troy and Eastern Michigan.
Head Coach John Calipari, who holds a 3-0 record against Winthrop, will look to his talented freshmen for contributions. Darius Acuff Jr. is averaging 19.8 points and has recorded 19 assists this season, while Meleek Thomas contributes 17.8 points and also has 19 assists.
Both teams are known for their ball protection. Winthrop is ranked 18th in the NCAA with an average of just 8.8 turnovers per game, while Arkansas averages 10.0 turnovers. This trend points to a competitive matchup as both teams prioritize maintaining possession.
The game will be broadcast live on SEC Network Plus, with Brett Dolan and Manuale Watkins calling the action. Fans can also tune in via radio on 92.1 The Ticket, featuring Chuck Barrett and Matt Zimmerman.
Arkansas will follow the Winthrop game with another matchup against Jackson State on Friday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m.
