Aroldis Chapman Pitching For Boston Red Sox

BOSTON, Mass. — Veteran left-hander Aroldis Chapman has made an immediate impact since joining the Boston Red Sox during the offseason, showcasing his skills in five appearances thus far this season.

At 37, Chapman has yet to allow a run in 4 2/3 innings pitched, recorded two saves, and secured two wins while striking out six batters. His performance has reaffirmed that he still possesses remarkable speed in his fastball.

During a recent game against the Toronto Blue Jays, Chapman hit a pitch of 102 miles per hour. While Codify Baseball reported this feat, it erroneously implied that Chapman set the record for Boston’s fastest pitch. However, previous Red Sox players Daniel Bard and Joe Kelly have each thrown faster while pitching for the team.

Despite not yet claiming the record, Chapman’s ability to reach such speeds in chilly April weather suggests the potential for even greater performance as the season progresses. “If he can stay healthy, imagine how fast he can throw when summer hits,” noted a team analyst.

Chapman stands just 0.2 miles per hour short of breaking the franchise record, which is still held by Bard and Kelly. He remains the record-holder for the fastest pitch in MLB history, a title he earned in 2010.

Last season, while playing for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Chapman clocked pitches at 105.1 and 104.7 miles per hour, which puts Boston’s record in jeopardy this year. As the season unfolds, it seems increasingly likely that Chapman will surpass previous benchmarks.

The anticipation surrounding Chapman’s performance has excited the Red Sox fanbase, with indications that his historic speed may soon become a defining feature of the season.
