Arsenal Eyes Joan Garcia as Ramsdale Replacement
Arsenal Football Club is reportedly keen on signing Spanish goalkeeper Joan Garcia as a replacement for Aaron Ramsdale, who is poised to make a permanent move to Southampton.
Manager Manolo Gonzalez has confirmed the club is unable to prevent Garcia’s departure if Arsenal triggers his release clause, which is believed to be around £30 million.
The situation arises as Ramsdale, who lost his starting position to David Raya last season, is set to join Southampton for a fee of £18 million, with potential add-ons that could bring the total to £25 million depending on the club’s performance in the Premier League.
Garcia, a 23-year-old who recently won Olympic gold with the Spanish national team, is a product of the Espanyol academy. Arsenal’s interest in the young talent could see them finalize a deal before he makes his full debut for the senior Spanish team.
Despite his desire to retain the player, Gonzalez admitted that if Arsenal meets the outlined clause, they would be left with no choice but to release Garcia. “I can’t do anything,” he stated to Marca. “If they pay the clause, we can’t do anything,” he said.
