Gabriel Jesus Arsenal Injury Manchester United Fa Cup

LONDON, England — Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has been ruled out indefinitely after sustaining a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during the team’s FA Cup match against Manchester United on Sunday. The club confirmed the injury on Tuesday, stating that the 27-year-old will undergo surgery in the coming days.

Manager Mikel Arteta expressed concern earlier in the day, telling reporters, “We know more now. It is not looking good at all.” Jesus suffered the injury following a collision with United captain Bruno Fernandes. This marks the second ACL injury of his career, with the previous one occurring in 2022 on the opposite knee.

Arteta acknowledged the impact of Jesus’ absence on the squad, stating, “We are actively looking into the market to improve the squad. It would be naive not to.” The Brazilian forward had recently regained his scoring form, netting five goals in his last five appearances, including a hat trick in the League Cup quarterfinal against Crystal Palace.

Jesus’ injury adds to Arsenal’s growing list of sidelined players, including Thomas Partey (hamstring), Jurrien Timber (knee), and Takehiro Tomiyasu (knee). The club has not provided a timeline for his return but emphasized its commitment to supporting his recovery.

“Gabby will undergo surgery in the coming days and will soon begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme,” Arsenal said in a statement. “Everyone at the club is fully focused on supporting Gabby to ensure he is back to full fitness as soon as possible.”

Arsenal’s next match is against Liverpool in the Premier League on Wednesday, where they will aim to maintain their title challenge without one of their key attackers.
