Arsenal Makes Key Changes Ahead of Bournemouth Match

London, England – Arsenal football manager Mikel Arteta has announced two changes to his starting lineup for the Premier League clash against Bournemouth on May 3, 2025. The match takes place just days before a crucial Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain.
Midfielder Thomas Partey returns from suspension, replacing Mikel Merino. Partey, who missed the first leg of the semi-final against PSG due to a yellow card accumulation, is eager to contribute as Arsenal looks to secure their spot in the Champions League final.
Additionally, Ben White has been reinstated at right-back, while Jurrien Timber has been left out of the squad altogether. The rest of the lineup remains unchanged from the team that faced PSG in midweek.
Declan Rice is set to make his 100th appearance for the club since joining last season, continuing his vital role in midfield alongside Partey. Goalkeeper Tommy Setford will be on the bench as Neto, on loan from Bournemouth, is ineligible to play against his parent club. Seventeen-year-old academy defender Brayden Clarke also joins the substitutes.
Bournemouth has made three changes to their lineup after a 1-1 draw with Manchester United. Star forward Evanilson returns following a rescinded suspension, replaced players Adam Smith, Antoine Semenyo, and Alex Scott. The team will also feature Lewis Cook, Julian Araujo, and Marcus Tavernier.
The match is essential for both teams, with Arsenal aiming to finish the season strong and Bournemouth seeking to secure a stable mid-table position.
The two clubs last met in October, when Arsenal secured a 2-0 victory against PSG. Arteta is optimistic that Partey’s return will bolster the team’s performance as they prepare for the pivotal Champions League encounter against PSG next week.
